The Long Lament, which is written some eight years after my last work, is for string quartet. Unfortunately the mp3 offered here illustrates how the attempt to electronically copy string vibrato is distracting. To my old ears it would be better removed altogether, but I don't know of a simple program (app) to do this. I hope the listener can follow the music in their mind despite the unwanted echoing. Better still would be four string players willing to play the piece.
